From a very seasoned ex ALRA student (graduated 1995) do not ever lose your native accent! (unless you only want to work at the RSC!) Casting Directors would much rather choose a native accent over an actor mimicking the accent they are looking for, learn RP as an accent and keep it as that! Competition is fierce nowadays, your native accent will make you stand out from the competition I promise!!12 months ago
Rose van Leyenhorst Thanks for that Tess, great to hear :-)12 months ago -
Good evening to all !
Does anyone have some tips on how to improve or totally change a native accent to make it sounds more similar to an English RP accent?1 year ago

Chryssi Janetou - created a new group, International ALRA Community
Are you a non-native English speaking drama student or prospective student? Is English your first or second language? What is your pronunciation of standard English/RP?
The purpose of this group is for international drama students and prospective students to connect and share their experiences, and challenges they face as part of building a solid foundation of acting skills as well as tools and practical solutions to keep their diversity whilst embrasing for example the right English pronunciation skills.
