Moving back to the workshop, we continued working on the different drafts. Matthew then asked asked us on the second time around of doing our scene to have a current event in mind i.e the arab spring, Big Society etc and how this helped with objectives, actions and especially the stakes. This is something I think all of us can relate to in our method especially those of us who have worked with..1 year ago -
and I'm told was still rewriting up until the day before press night! Pretty demanding on the actors, but I doubt any of the actors were complaining seeing as they were performing at one Britain's top theatre's lol!1 year ago -
He explained how Mike came about writing the play i.e he was commissioned to write for a big stage thus had to be epic in subject matter, which 13 most certainly is. However what made this production of 13 different is that Mike rewrote many of the scenes to make them even more current as the play was written over a year ago. Which meant Mike was present through out the whole rehearsal process1 year ago -
Hey Guys,
So following from my last post (workshop with Matthew Evans assistant director of 13) I have now been and gone and got the t shirt! It was great fun and I learnt a lot! Matthew who is currently working as assistant director on Mike Bartlett's 13 at the National took us through a variety of drafts of 13 from the very 1st to the one that you can now see at the National.1 year ago -

The workshop is led by staff director Matthew Evans and offeres an exciting opportunity to delve into the unique rehearsal process behind 13 . The workshop will explore 13 ’s exciting rehearsal process in which the director, Thea Sharrock and playwright, Mike Bartlett refined the existing material, frequently incorporating live current events into the script.1 year ago -
To all Alrians out there,
I managed to get my self a place on a workshop which the National Theatre was offering to all entry pass members. If you don't know what entry pass is, it's basically a free membership with The National for anyone aged 16-25 which entitles you to cheap tickets and various opportunities such as this one! So join now if you haven't already!1 year ago
