Welcome to Thebes

By Moira Buffinithebes

Directed by Gareth Nicholls

Thebes lies in ruins. An elected Cabinet of women, led by the President Elect Eurydice, set about rebuilding Thebes from the ashes of a brutal civil war. They start gathering testimonies from those who have suffered. Theseus, the First Citizen of Athens, arrives on a diplomatic mission to survey the damage.

But the rot has penetrated deep into the core of the city, making chaos out of all attempts at control. Unspeakable war crimes have scarred the souls of the citizens, and recovery starts to look impossible…

Candide

candideAbout the Show

By Voltair, adapted by Scott Hunter

Directed by Roman Stefanski

When the ever optimistic Candide is thrown from his privileged home, disgraced for kissing the salacious Cunegonde, his true love (and step-sister!), he begins a hectic romp around the world with his trusty servant searching for Enlightenment. But things go from bad to worse and back again as Candide is shaken by an earthquake, terrorised by torturers and cornered by cannibals.

This picaresque tale is packed to the brim with general silliness and brutal slapstick with impossible dilemmas and improbable escapes around every corner. Can Candide’s eternal optimism survive? Which deleted scene will the audience choose to view? Could this really be the best of all possible worlds?

The Ash Girl

ash girl

About the show...

A rustling amongst the ashes in the hearth is the only sign of the Ash Girl. No-one has told her she has to be there - she’s banished herself to the dust.

Her sisters and step-mother tease her – the exotic prince is throwing a party and she won’t be going.

Outside in the forest, monsters stalk through the gloom, scheming and infectious. But there are friends too offering friendship, wisdom and magic…
