Winstanley College in Wigan are partnering up with ALRA and will be teaching a full time foundation course in live and recorded acting skills. The course aims to prepare students both physically and mentally for entry into full time accredited training programmes and will include lessons in Acting Technique, Voice, Movement and Acting for Camera.

The classes are practical and will involve group, pair and solo exercises, with an estimated contact time of 20 to 24 hours a week. Students will present selections of their work at the end of each term and upon successful completion of the course will be awarded an ALRA Foundation Acting certificate. Over the last three years ALRA Foundation Acting students have gained places at a variety of leading drama schools including Central School of Speech and Drama, Bristol Old Vic, Mountview, and ALRA itself.

Applicants must be at least 17 years old, and older students considering a career change are welcome to apply. On the day of the audition you will take part in an improvisation workshop, followed by a monologue and then an interview.

Principal of Winstanley Jo Bailey said: “Winstanley College is privileged to be entering into partnership with such a prestigious organisation as ALRA. This opportunity will benefit local students who want to pursue a career in the live and recorded arts and will complement the excellent provision the College currently offers in the Performing Arts.”

Adrian Hall, co-director of ALRA said: “I think this is exactly the kind of partnership work we should be doing. Winstanley has such a fantastic reputation. This partnership will provide an exceptional opportunity for students to experience the fabulous new facilities Winstanley will offer and the depth of talent in teaching from both Winstanley and ALRA.
